Biometrics study - volunteering opportunity

Seeking participants for facial assessment experiments 25-29 June 2018

Facial recognition study example

Psychology Honours students in conjunction with DST's Biometrics Team are conducting two experiments in DST Edinburgh next week and we need your help to participate in either or both! The DST staff at Edinburgh have been invited to participate, and you also have the opportunity to contribute to this research.

One study aims to understand the accuracy of human age estimation using facial imagery. In this study you will make age judgements on a range of facial images.

The second study aims to help understand how different methods of presenting information can impact on performance when making judgements about whether two people are related or not. In this study you will look at pairs of images and make a decision as to whether you think they are siblings or not – sometimes biographical information will be included; other times it will not.

Snacks will be provided, as well as the opportunity to receive your own results.

Dates: 25–29 June 2018

Time: 0900 – 1030; 11 – 1230; 1300 – 1430; 1500 – 1630 (Note: you can elect to come along to a session and participate in both experiments [~1.5hrs] or just participate in one [up to 50mins])

RSVP: If you would like to participate, please contact Biometrics Discipline Leader Dr Rebecca Heyer to make arrangements for site access (rebecca.heyer@dst.defence.gov.au) or 08 7389 4236.
