This year, DST celebrates the 80th anniversary of our Fishermans Bend site, celebrations are scheduled for the last week of November to coincide with the DST Achievement Awards which, this year, will be held in Melbourne.

Asian Physics Olympiad 2019—Volunteering Opportunity (Adelaide)

From 5 to 13 May, 200 of Asia’s best and brightest physics high school students (including an Aussie eight-member team) will be in Adelaide for the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).

Alumni at Black Box Lecture

Alumni Christine Scala and Brian Dixon attended the Black Box lecture on 7th March presented by Fulbright Distinguished Chair, Professor William P. Schonberg.

CDS Designate—Professor Tanya Monro

Defence has announced the appointment of Professor Tanya Monro as the new Chief Defence Scientist, effective March 2019. Professor Monro is a highly decorated scientist who joins DST from the University of South Australia.

2018 DST Achievement Awards and Farewell to Dr Zelinsky

Minister's Achievement Award for Andrew Piotrowski

Dr Andrew Piotrowski has received the 2018 Minister’s Award for Achievement in Defence Science for his innovative work in developing force protection systems that protect Australian soldiers from improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Inaugural gathering

DST alumni gathered concurrently at Edinburgh and Fishermans Bend on 19 July 2018, linked by VTC for CDS's address. This is the first meeting of the re-vitalised Alumni, with more to come.
